Michelle Guthrie is EVP, regional distribution & business development, Star

HONG KONG: The Star Group has announced the promotion of Michelle Guthrie to executive vice-president, regional distribution and business development. She reports to the president and COO of Star Bruce Churchill.
Guthrie will oversee the broadcasters distribution businesses in all Asian markets excluding India, mainland China, Taiwan and the Middle East. Major territories under her responsibility include Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Korea and Indonesia. In addition, Guthrie continues to oversee business development activities across the broadcasters footprint.
In addition, the Murdoch broadcaster also announced the appointment of May Oh to V-P, regional distribution. Reporting to Guthrie, May will head a team dedicated to marketing and servicing Star's affiliates in these markets.
Churchill said:"Michelle is an extremely capable executive with pay-television experience in Asia, Australia and Europe. Guthrie and her new team under May Oh will re-invigorate Star's efforts to provide more channels and better service to our affiliate partners around Asia."
Guthrie joined Star three years ago. Earlier she was director of legal and business affairs at Foxtel, responsible for all legal and business development functions. Before Foxtel, Guthrie was corporate counsel in London for News International and British Sky Broadcasting.
May moves to Star distribution after a two-year stint at China Network Systems which is a JV between Star and Taiwan's Koos Group. Oh played a key role in the launch of Total TV, Asia's first digital interactive cable TV platform in Taiwan.
