Nickelodeon partners SSA to set up outdoor theme park in New Orleans

MUMBAI: Kids entertainment channel Nickelodeon has partnered with Southern Star Amusement (SSA) to build its first-ever outdoor theme park in New Orleans.

The destination

is scheduled to open by 2010-end and will be built on a 65-acre theme park space, formerly home to Jazzland/Six Flags.

While Nickelodeon will receive a licensing fee as part of the agreement, the city of New Orleans will retain a leasing arrangement with Southern Star Amusements. The rebuilding of the park will be funded partially by GO Zone bonds and by private investors.
Nickelodeon‘s venture into the travel and leisure space already includes the Nickelodeon Family Suites in Orlando, Florida, and the Nickelodeon Family Cruise with Royal Caribbean.
