'Dora the Explorer' honoured with NAACP Image Awards

MUMBAI: Nickelodeon has announced that its show Dora the Explorer and Keke Palmer, star of the tween comedy series, True Jackson, VP were honoured by the NAACP at the 40th NAACP Image Awards during the Annual Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

Dora the Explorer took home the award for ‘Outstanding Children’s Programme‘ and Keke Palmer won for ‘Outstanding Performance in a Youth/Children’s Programme‘ series or special.

Dora the Explorer was launched in 2000.

Keke Palmer, the broadcaster says, has established herself as one of the fastest rising young stars of her generation, with credits that span film, television, and music. She also starred in the film Akeelah and the Bee that garnered a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Motion Picture.

As True Jackson in the Nick show, she plays a teenage student tapped to head the youth division of a major fashion label.
