Two film cities coming up in West Bengal

MUMBAI: After number of Film cities have come up all across the country, the West Bengal government has now decided to have two film cities in the state.

After it had called for tenders, the state government has received 10 bids from private investors for its proposed Film City project at Uttarpara in Hooghly district.

The project will come up on 100 bighas, given by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, along the Hooghly, it is understood.

Confirming the same, the state chief minister Mamata Banerjee said, "We have received 10 bids. These will be opened in a couple of days."

The chief minister also said that her government was also planning to set up another FilmCity in North Bengal. "Why go elsewhere to shoot your films? You can do it very nicely in our state once the film cities come up,‘ Banerjee observed.

On film technicians and actors facing difficulties in work owing to poor infrastructure of the studios, the state government was planning to provide pension for the retired technicians.
