TN film producers suspend shooting

MUMBAI: Calling the unilateral decision of Film Employees‘ Federation of South India (FEFSI) a shocking move, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has called for the suspension of all shooting activities today (23 January).

While pay revision is decided once in three years after consultations between TFPC and the FEFSI, the latter had gone ahead and announced a ‘unilateral‘ scale this time and insisted that the new structure should come into effect immediately.

The TFPC, in a statement, has stated that the talks could not conclude in the wake of the constitution of new members to TFPC. FEFSI has in the meantime announced a wage structure.

"This is shocking as it seems to question the democratic functioning in this matter. The two (associations) discuss and jointly decide the wage-scale once in three years. This is a unilateral decision (by FEFSI)," the statement read.

All shooting activities stand suspended to enable all members participate, the release added.
