Ramesh Sippy turns to acting

MUMBAI: Having directed seasoned actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan in the cult film Sholay, director Ramesh Sippy has decided to plunge himself into the field of acting.

Sippy will make his debut in the Hindi remake of Gautham Vasudev Menon‘s Tamil blockbuster Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya that stars Prateik and a debutant actor, Amy Jackson.

Sippy will play a Bollywood director in the film that is set against the backdrop of the film industry. Prateik plays an assistant director.

It was writer Sridhar Raghavan who prompted the director to face the camera and once he got his nod, arranged the meeting between him and Menon.
