Kukunoor remakes Taiwanese film as Mod

Going by the success of his last film Dor that he adapted from award-winning Malayalam film Perumazhakkalam, Nagesh Kukunoor purchased the remake rights of a Taiwanese film Keeping Watch and made a Hindi film Mod.

Keeping Watch, a romantic thriller, is the story of a girl, running her ancestral clock store, leading a monotonous life. She experiences love and romance for the first time when a man arrives as her neighbour, saying that he was her old schoolmate. Suddenly, he vanishes and the estranged girl goes in search of the man, only to learn that he had died years ago.

Greatly touched by the Taiwanese film, Kukunoor decided to remake it for the Indian audiences by buying its rights. Kukunoor felt that though the concept of the film was good, it was badly executed and that he could do a much better job.

But the Indian version has been kept close to the original in terms of the plot and characters. Though the story remains the same, it has been more Indianised.

The film stars Ayesha Takia opposite Rannvijay Singh (of Roadies fame) besides Raghuvir Yadav.

Mod, shot in Ooty on a start-to-finish schedule, is awaiting an early release.
