Johar mulls sequel of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

MUMBAI: A decade after Karan Johar made Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Karan Johar is in plans to make a sequel of the same.

Initially Johar had taken the matter lightly because he thought it to be financially impractical and not a great idea for a sequel in those times. But seeing the movements recently when filmmakers are announcing sequels to their film, he changed his mind and decided to go ahead.

In 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (K3G) was a super hit worldwide, with a business of Rs 2 billion. This was the first ever Bollywood movie to get a theatrical release in Germany (with German subtitles) and later on it went on to getting dubbed in the language.

In the same year, K3G won 5 Filmfare awards (best actress - Kajol, best supporting actress - Jaya Bachchan, best dialogue - Karan Johar, best art direction - Sharmistha Roy and best scene of the year). The film also went on to bag awards for Sonu Nigam (best male playback award) and Jaya Bachchan (best supporting actress) at the IIFA.
