Indian to preside over short film jury at Locarno fest

MUMBAI: This year‘s jury of the Locarno Film Festival has been announced.
Veteran Portuguese producer Paulo Branco will preside over a jury to decide on winners in various categories in the main competition section.

Others on the jury besides Branco are French actor and director Louis Garrel (The Dreamers), German actress Sandra Hüller (Requiem), Swiss filmmaker Bettina Oberli (The Murder Farm) and Italian actress Jasmine Trinca (The Best of Youth).

Presiding over the Pardi di domani section (short film section) will be Indu Shrikent, film critic and director of the Osian‘s Cinefan Film Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema (India). She will be judging entries in the national and international competition along with the Georgian director Bakur Bakuradze, Israeli director and film critic Tom Shoval, Swiss producer Luc Toutounghi and the French filmmaker Rebecca Zlotowski (Dear Prudence).

 
The section is reserved for short subjects by directors who have yet to make a full-length feature.

Others who will take part as the jury are German director Christoph Hochhäusler who will preside over Locarno‘s Discovery sidebar jury that includes Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino, Filipino director Raya Martin, Chinese producer Zhu Rikun and the Greek producer and director Athina Rachel Tsangari.

Lastly, film critics Anthony Bobeau (France), Robert Koehler (USA) and Kong Rithdee (Thailand) will select the best debut feature from among the titles presented in the main competition section.
