Filmi Chashma awards for six short films

MUMBAI: Six short films, made for children, were presented with the 2011 Filmi Chashma awards recently. These awards were instituted by the Comet Media Foundation in association with the Children‘s Film Society of India (CFSI).

The Silver Filmi Chashma award of Rs. 50,000 was awarded to Metamorphosis, directed by Shikha Gupta, an alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune, while the Bronze award of Rs. 25,000 was taken away by Chatkhaara, directed by Maaz Kazmi who is a past student of Dept of Communication Studies, University of Pune.

The Crystal Filmi Chashma Awards of Rs.15,000 each were awarded to Mahima Kaur‘s Khel Khel Mein, Manuja Tyagi‘s Sitaron se Aage, Manish Saini‘s Gullak and A Coincidental Tale by Tathagata Singha.

The awards were presented to the filmmakers by CFSI chairperson Nandita Das.

The Filmi Chashma project encourages children to look at films critically and to develop their analytical skills through a travelling film festival held at various venues. This year the film festivals covered 26,500 children in Mumbai, Pune, Akola and Bhopal.
