Dam 999 to show at Cannes fest

MUMBAI: Dam 999, a tribute to the victims of the 1975 Banqiao dam disaster in China, will be screened at the 64th Cannes International Film Festival.

Produced by Dubai-based Marine BizTV and directed by Sohan Roy, the film will be screened on 11 May. The film will have a repeat screening on 16 May for the market delegates attending the festival.

Roy happens to be the CEO of Aries Telecasting Limited, the parent company of Marine BizTV.

There is a similar outdated dam in India, the Mullaperiyar dam, which has the potential to wipe the lives of more than 2.5 million people if it breaks.

Dam 999 is expected to release in India shortly in both English and Malayalam.
