DAM 999 nominated for China's Golden Rooster Awards

DAM 999

MUMBAI: Devoid of an Academy award even after being shortlisted, Sohan Roy’s DAMM 999 has been nominated for China’s Golden Rooster Awards, said to be the country’s answer to the Academy Awards.

With the nomination, DAM 999 becomes the first film from India to have qualified for the award.

DAM 999 was officially suggested to the festival committee by famous Israelian Director Dan Wolman, the eminent Jury of numerous International film festivals.

Said Roy, “I was a little apprehensive. I would like to thank Director Dan Wolman and the Festival committee for this surprise."

Incidentally, DAM 999 was featured under the categories of ‘Best Picture, ‘Original Score‘ and ‘Original Soundtrack‘ at the Academy Awards. The film’s screenplay was also added to the permanent core collection in the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences before it released in 2011.

DAM 999 is a tribute to the 1975 Banqiao Dam disaster in China that claimed 250,000 lives.
