Canadian film fest for youth to kick off on 28 September

NEW DELHI: The YoungCuts Film Festival for short films by filmmakers who are 25 or younger has called for entries from all over the world for its next edition on 28 and 29 September in Montreal.

Apart from a jury, the festival this year is introducing People’s Choice Awards.

Filmmakers who submit a film and pay the submission fee will have access to watch films from past festivals, as well as submissions for this year’s festival. For this year’s submissions, they will have the opportunity to vote for their favourites. Each month, at least one film will be selected based on public voting.

The Festival accepts films online and wants entries uploaded to a video-sharing web-site like vimeo.com which supplies a password. Films can also be sent through a link from a free service like Yousendit or Dropbox or uploaded directly.

File size should be no greater than 40MB per minute of the film up to a maximum of 750 MB.

Physical copies can also be sent in DVD format. Each film has to be accompanied by a submission fee of $60.
