Bharathiraja set to go global

Bharathiraja

MUMBAI: Bharathiraja, one of the legends of Tamil cinema, is all set to go global. The veteran director is planning to remake his thriller, Bommalattam, in English.

Bharathiraja confirmed that some of his friends in Hollywood have stepped forward to bankroll this venture. The film will have Samuel L Jackson playing the character that was originally portrayed by Nana Patekar. Arjun also had a pivotal role in Bommalattam. It, however, remains to be seen whether he will reprise his role in the English version too.

The veteran is currently working on Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum but the project has suffered a few setbacks. It is only after this film is wrapped up will the director commence work on his English remake.

Bresides umpteen Tamil films, Bharathiraja directed Hindi films like the Rajesh Khanna-starrer Red Rose, Solva Savan, Saveere Wali Gadi and Lovers.
