MUMBAI: Apoorva Lakhia, known for his films like Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Ek Ajnabee and Shootout at Lokhandwala, is set to remake Zanjeer, the Prakash Mehra magnum opus.

"My film starts from 20 April. So I am going to start work on it. It is the remake of ‘Zanjeer‘ and next week I am going to shoot for an ad in Thailand," Lakhia said.

Lakhia has roped in Chiranjeevi‘s son Ram Charan Teja to play the role that Amitabh Bachchan played in the original. Teja is already an icon for his Southern fans.

The 1973 classic, starring Jaya Bhaduri and Pran, played a pivotal role in Amitabh‘s career. This film not only catapulted him to fame, but also gave him the title of angry young man.
