Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to receive prestigious French honour

MUMBAI: The French Government will honour Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with the title of Officer Dan Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres tomorrow.

With this honour, Aishwarya will become the youngest Indian to win the honour.

The winners of this award, which is the second highest civilian award in France, include the likes of Robert Redford, George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Shah Rukh Khan. 

The French daily ‘Le Figaro‘ stated, "She (Ash) is one of the most famous Indian actors in this country and outside the borders of India. Aishwarya will be made Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, Wednesday, 13 July by the Ambassador of France in New Delhi, Jerome Bonnafont."

This distinction is conferred on people who have achieved immense recognition because of their contribution in the fields of arts, culture or literature.
