• History TV18 to air 'India On Four Wheels' on 20 Sept

    MUMBAI: History TV18 will telecast a show titled ?India on Four Wheels? at 9 pm on 20 September. The show will also be aired on CNBC TV18 on 22 September at 9:30 pm.

    ?India on Four Wheels? is a discovery of a country on the move by two journalists Justin Rowlatt and Anita Rani, who embark on an "epic" road trip across the length and breadth of India. During their voyage crisscrossing cities and rural India, they both encounter and discover the effects of the booming car industry leading them to realise how a country?s economic augmentation is fanning the growth of the car industry.

    Rowlatt and Rani start their journey from New Delhi and navigate in two opposite directions, with an aim to meet after three weeks. Rani starts her trip in a new Indian made Mahindra 4x4 jeep, while Rowlatt leaves towards the East in Hindustan Motor?s Ambassador.

    Halfway through her journey, Rani reaches Mumbai. She discovers some of the "fastest" and "most dangerous" roads in the country.

    Rowlatt, on the other hand, steers his Ambassador on some of the bumpy roads of the country, meets farmers who gets their first taste of motoring and witnesses the effects of burning fossil fuel on precious ecosystems. During his travel, he probes into the darker side of India?s economic revolution, the retrofit of industrialisation on environment and how the majority of people are still cut off from India?s financial prosperity, the channel said.

  • CNBC TV18 to launch 'What Women Really Want' on 11 Aug

    Mumbai: CNBC-TV18 is launching a new series titled ?What Women Really Want? on 11 August.

    The show will air every Saturday at 8 pm.

    ?What Women Really Want? is a show that looks at how women today are negotiating the interplay between power, money and balance.

    As the name suggests, the series aims to open a dialogue between successful women CEOs and mid-career professionals struggling with workplace dynamics. CNBC-TV18 executive editor Shereen Bhan talks to women achievers from all walks of life like NSE joint MD Chitra Ramakrishna, Crisil MD and CEO Rupa Kudva and ISRO?s Tessy Thomas.

    The show will present what corporations like P&G, PepsiCo, Intel, HCL, Deloitte are doing to create equal opportunity platforms and what the latest academic research from Harvard Business Review, McKinsey and Catalyst reveals about what women can do to move up the corporate ladder.

    Bhan said, "Over the past two decades, there has been a 360 degree change in the attitude of Indian women. We are seeing more women in leadership positions, and taking on various roles that were earlier ?suitable only to men.? While there has been a definite change in the dynamics of the corporate world, the issues and concerns faced by women still remain prominent. ?What Women Really Want? is our way of being perceptive about these issues and finding a resolution. We have interacted with many women corporate super achievers in our show and it was quite an insightful experience - both intimidating and inspiring."

    MUMBAI: CNBC is expanding its portfolio with the announcement of seven unscripted projects in development including Fakes and Forgeries from Endemol USA, Franchised from Eyeworks USA and At Your Service from Zodiak USA.

    CNBC?s slate includes projects that run the gamut from an antiques detective who works the high-end world of art forgeries using crime lab technology to a life-changing competition that each week gives one person a chance to win his or her own franchise to a concierge service that makes the impossible possible for their extravagant clients.

    It also includes Outstanding! produced by RelativityReal; Venture Men produced by Sharp Entertainment; American Steel produced by Ellman Entertainment; Flipping Wars: Vegas produced by MorningStar Entertainment.

    ?Exploring new formats in primetime allows us to find new ways to attract a broader viewership at night while still appealing to CNBC?s highly affluent, educated and influential audience. These projects are an extension of CNBC?s distinct brand complete with bold characters, big stakes and of course one undeniable common denominator money,? said SVP primetime alternative programming Jim Ackerman.

    The seven unscripted projects are following six months after the NBCUniversal network appointed ex-Vh1?s Ackerman.

    MUMBAI: Despite making jokes at their expense and at the expense of movie stars the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HPFA) has decided to retain comedian Ricky Gervais as the host for the Golden Globe Awards in January 2012.

    Gervais who has hosted the previous two editions of the show was brought back into the fold when he met with the new HFPA president Aida Takla-O?Reilly in Paris last month.

    The HFPA noted that everyone was happy with the decision to bring Gervais back as his blunt one-liners targeting big-name celebrities caused anger and resentment in some quarters.

    The show honours achievements in both television and film. Meanwhile reports also indicate that the HFPA wants a trial date in January regarding its dispute with Dick Clark Productions. The HFPA had sued Dick Clark Productions a year ago, accusing the Globes producer of secretly signing a six-year extension to NBC?s current agreement to air the telecast - even though it has no commitment to produce the show.
