• TIMES NOW for India to Lead

Submitted by ITV Production on Aug 23, 2007

MUMBAI: TIMES NOW, India‘s leading English news television channel of big stories gets associated with ‘Lead India - a Times of India initiative‘ to seek out the next generation of leaders for the nation.

The campaign aims at bringing young faces into mainstream politics and encourage them to confidently lead India in its coming future. A four month long programme will be rolled out in 8 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune and Hyderabad.

Commenting on the association, Neel Chowdhury, Marketing Head, TIMES NOW said, "After the tremendous response that India Poised received, TIMES NOW is delighted to support Lead India, an extension of the earlier initiative. TIMES NOW will leverage the initiative on-air for the next four months and enable the nation find its next generation of young, exuberant leaders."

Several newsmakers will be flashed across the channel urging young Indians to come forward and ‘DO‘ something for the country. Shahrukh Khan kick-started the initiative on August 14, 2007 with his take on the young Indian minds and how they can make a difference in the progress of the country.

Today, the best and brightest are just not coming forward to be a part of the political mainstream. Deterred by the increasing muddiness of politics - and with several attractive career options opening up in the past decade - politics has come down dramatically in the list of viable career options. ‘Lead India‘ aims to change this perception and present a new linage of leaders for the nation.

  • A.R.Rahman on CNN's The Screening Room- music composers special

Submitted by ITV Production on Aug 21, 2007

MUMBAI: In August, The Screening Room focuses on three of the world‘s top film score composers - Hans Zimmer, Lifetime Academy Award-winner; Ennio Morricone (The Mission, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly) and Bollywood film composer and instrumentalist, A.R.Rahman, who has sold over 200 million albums.

Credited for introducing Indian music to the west, A.R.Rahman discusses with host, Myleene Klass on his collaboration with Andrew Lloyd Webber to produce the hit musical ‘Bombay Dreams‘. The renowned Indian musician, who has composed some of the most stunning tunes for Bollywood films, also shares his experience working with different directors including Deepa Mehta, Shekhar Kapur and Ashutosh Gowarikar, before revealing his views on the future evolvement of the Indian film industry.

What is the true role of music in a movie? How do composers work with directors? With forthcoming features, such as Vivaldi and Bob Dylan‘s films which are currently in production, why do musicians make such compelling subjects for films? This month‘s theme strikes a chord with The Screening Room‘s Myleene Klass - herself a classically trained pianist, violinist and singer who trained at Britain‘s prestigious Guildhall school and Royal Academy of Music.
