    Episode Descriptions

    Osprey Odyssey: 6 November

Guided by satellite technology, Steve Leonard tries to travel with three young ospreys on their first-ever migration from North to South America. Steve tries to find out whether they survive, how they find their way and where they end up. But before this he has to keep up with these extraordinary natural athletes on their perilous 5.000 kilometre journey South.

On the Trail of the Caribou: 13 November

In this episode, Steve Leonard struggles with the extreme winter in the Yukon as he attempts to migrate across Canada with Claudia, a heavily pregnant caribou. Hounded by wolves, chased by bears and enduring appalling weather, can Claudia make it to safety to deliver her calf? Only by making her journey can Steve find out.

    The Whales‘ Tale: 20 November

It‘s the longest migration on the planet, a staggering 12,000 miles. Grey whales make the ultimate round trip and this time Steve Leonard is going with them, all the way from Mexico to Alaska. Although they travel slowly, the whales just never stop and Steve finds it increasingly difficult trying to keep up.

In the Footsteps of the Ice Bear: 27 November

Just a few hundred kilometres from the North Pole, travelling through a dazzling but dangerous world of ice, Steve is on the trail of Aurora, a 23-year-old polar bear mother and her tiny cub. Running with Wild Dogs: 4 December

Living rough in the African wilderness, Steve is on the trail of Chesney, Punter and Jones, three wild dogs about to face the biggest challenge of their lives as they leave the safety of the pack to find a mate and start a new pack of their own. Wild Goose Chase: 11 December

Nothing on Earth regularly flies as high as bar-headed geese. They are a natural phenomenon.
