BENGALURU: Bharti Airtel Ltd (Airtel) reported a 39.7 percent improvement in the operating results (EBIT) of its digital TV services (Airtel DTH) for the year ended 31 March 2019 (FY 2019, year under review) as compared to the previous fiscal (FY 2018, previous year). Airtel DTH operating revenue increased 9.1 percent in FY 2019 as compared to the previous year. The company reported EBIT of Rs 741 crore for FY 2019 as compared to Rs 530.6 crore for FY 2018 for Airtel DTH. Operating revenue for Airtel DTH in FY 2019 was Rs 4,100.1 crore as compared to Rs 3757 crore in the previous fiscal.
For the quarter ended 31 March 2019 (Q4 2019, quarter under review), Airtel DTH revenue increased 9.6 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) to Rs 1050.5 crore from Rs 958.5 crore in the corresponding year ago quarter (Q4-2018) and grew 1.7 percent q-o-q from Rs 1,033 crore for the immediate trailing quarter (Q3-2019). EBIT for Q4 2019 increased 3.2 percent y-o-y to Rs 185.3 crore as compared to Rs 153.8 crore in Q4 2018, and increased 18.2 percent q-o-q from Rs 156.8 crore in Q3 2019.
Airtel DTH assets increased 19.6 percent to Rs 3,1234 crore in the year under review as compared to 2,612 crore in FY 2018. The segment’s liabilities increased 4.3 percent in FY 2019 to Rs 3,542.3 crore from Rs 3,396.4 crore in the previous year – a healthy indicator – the difference between assets and liabilities reduced from a negative Rs 784.4 crore to a negative Rs 418.9 crore.

Airtel reported 2.2 percent decline in consolidated operating revenue for FY 2019 at Rs 80,780.2 crore as compared to Rs 82,638.8 crore in FY 2019. Consolidated Total Comprehensive Income (TCI) for the year under review declined 48.9 percent to Rs 390.5 crore from Rs 764 crore in the previous year. EBITDA for FY 2019 declined 13.9 percent to Rs 26,110.1 crore from Rs 30,327.9 crore in FY 2018.
